I was recently researching intermittent fasting and veganism and I stumbled across an article about Dr. Nūn Sava-Siva Amen-Ra who apparently eats one meal a day. While this is insanely impressive, what stuck with me most throughout this interview was a quote about self discipline. He said, “self discipline is the the surest path to an enhanced existence”.
I had a conversation later with a friend who is struggling with self-discipline. The question I posed was, at what point in time do you imagine you would have all the self-discipline you desire? To which there was a long silence.
Discipline is a muscle that gets stronger the more it is worked out and likewise it will fade when not adhered to (strictly). But the path to discipline is a journey not a destination, otherwise Dr. Nūn Sava-Siva Amen-Ra would be eating three meals a day and chilling on the couch watching netflix. The real question is, do you want an enhanced existence? If the answer is yes, then self-discipline is required.
